Qoyis Joins the Family: Introducing Quran to the Youngest Learner πΆπ
2 minute read
Bismillah: In July 2014, our family was blessed with the arrival of our fourth child, Qoyis. With three older siblings already on their Quranic journey, we were excited to introduce our newest addition to the teachings of the Quran from the very beginning. πΌ
Introducing the Quran Early π±
- Starting with Sounds: From the moment he was born, we surrounded Qoyis with the sounds of Quranic recitation. We played soft recitations during his naps and bedtime, creating a soothing environment filled with Allahβs words. This helped him become familiar with the Quranβs rhythm and melody, even before he could understand the words. πΆ
- Family Recitations: The older siblings, Syauqi, Nurin, and Hilwaa, were eager to share their knowledge with their baby brother. They would recite short verses to him, often competing to see who could get him to smile first. These moments not only introduced Qoyis to the Quran but also strengthened the bond between the siblings. π
- Incorporating Faith in Daily Routines: As he grew, we began incorporating simple Quranic phrases and duas into his daily routines. Whether it was saying "Bismillah" before feeding or reciting a short dua before sleep, these little moments helped lay the foundation for a lifelong connection to the Quran.
One heartwarming moment was when Syauqi gently recited Surah Al-Fatiha to soothe baby Qoyis during a fussy evening. Seeing the older siblings take such an active role in teaching their baby brother filled our hearts with joy and gratitude. π
Continuing the Iqrasaurus Journey π¦
This phase of our journey focused on the Inspire and Impart pillars, as we introduced Quranic teachings to our youngest learner and involved the entire family in the process. We were reminded of the importance of starting early and making the Quran a central part of a childβs life from the very beginning.
As Allah says in the Quran:
"O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones." (Surah At-Tahrim, 66:6) π
This verse reinforced our commitment to raising our children with a strong foundation in faith, ensuring that they grow up with a deep love and understanding of the Quran.
A Peek Into Our Conversations π¨οΈ
Syauqi: "Ummi, do you think Qoyis likes hearing the Quran?"
Ummi Ziehan: "Iβm sure he does, Syauqi. The Quran is soothing, and he loves hearing it from his big brother."
Nurin: "Can I teach him a dua when heβs older, Ummi?"
Daddy Ikram: "Of course, Nurin! Youβll be a wonderful teacher to your little brother, just like you are to Hilwaa."
End Note: Introducing the Quran early in a childβs life lays a strong foundation for their faith. Join us next time as we explore how we taught values through the stories of the Prophetβs Companions. ππ
