Investigate: Encouraging Questions and Exploration Through the Quran ππ
2 minute read
Bismillah: As our children grew more curious and inquisitive, we realized the importance of nurturing this curiosity through the lens of the Quran. We wanted to create an environment where questions were encouraged, and exploration was seen as a way to deepen their understanding of faith and the world around them. π
Fostering a Culture of Inquiry π±
- Answering Big Questions: Our children often asked big questionsβabout the universe, life, and everything in between. We used these moments to explore the Quran together, finding answers and guidance in its verses. This approach not only satisfied their curiosity but also reinforced the relevance of the Quran in answering lifeβs profound questions.
- Hands-On Exploration: We incorporated hands-on activities that tied into their questions. For example, after learning about the creation of the heavens and the earth, we did a night sky observation, connecting what they saw with Quranic descriptions of the universe. π
- Encouraging Critical Thinking: We taught our children to think critically, using Quranic stories as a basis. Weβd discuss the decisions made by Prophets and how those decisions were guided by faith. This helped our children develop their problem-solving skills while staying rooted in Islamic principles.
One memorable exploration was when Syauqi asked about the stars mentioned in the Quran. We spent an evening stargazing, discussing how the stars serve as signs of Allahβs creation and as guides for travelers. This experience deepened his appreciation for the wonders of the universe and Allahβs wisdom. π
Investigating with Iqrasaurus π¦
This phase emphasized the Investigate pillar, where we encouraged our children to ask questions and seek answers through the Quran. By fostering a culture of inquiry, we helped them see the Quran as a source of wisdom and guidance in all aspects of life.
As Allah says in the Quran:
"Say, 'Are those who know equal to those who do not know?' Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding." (Surah Az-Zumar, 39:9) π
This verse inspired us to value knowledge and to seek understanding through continuous exploration and learning.
A Peek Into Our Conversations π¨οΈ
Syauqi: "Ummi, why do the stars twinkle?"
Ummi Ziehan: "The stars twinkle because of how their light travels through the earthβs atmosphere. And in the Quran, theyβre described as lamps in the sky, guiding us and reminding us of Allahβs greatness."
Nurin: "Can we learn more about the stars and what they mean in the Quran?"
Daddy Ikram: "Absolutely! Letβs explore together and see what we can discover."
End Note: Encouraging questions and exploration helps children connect deeply with the Quran and the world around them. Join us next time as we discuss how we shared our doodling journey with the world and expanded our community. ππ
