2 minute read
Bismillah: As our children continued to grow, we sought new ways to instill strong Islamic values in their hearts. We turned to the stories of the Prophetโs Companions (Sahabah), whose lives were filled with lessons of courage, faith, and perseverance. These stories provided a rich source of inspiration for teaching our children about the importance of living a life rooted in Islamic principles. ๐ผ
Why the Companions? ๐ฑ
- Role Models in Faith: The Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) were the closest to him and played a crucial role in spreading Islam. Their unwavering faith and dedication to the Prophetโs message made them ideal role models for our children. We wanted to show Syauqi, Nurin, Hilwaa, and even little Qoyis that the Companions were real people who faced challenges and overcame them with the help of Allah. ๐
- Stories of Courage and Sacrifice: We selected stories that highlighted key virtues such as bravery, patience, generosity, and trust in Allah. For example, the story of Abu Bakr (RA) and his unwavering support of the Prophet (peace be upon him) during the Hijrah taught the children about loyalty and trust. Similarly, the story of Bilal (RA) demonstrated the importance of standing firm in faith, no matter the obstacles. ๐ก๏ธ
- Connecting to Daily Life: After sharing each story, we discussed how the values demonstrated by the Companions could be applied in our daily lives. Whether it was showing kindness to others or being truthful, we helped the children understand that these values were not just historical ideals but practical lessons for today.
One of the stories that resonated deeply with Syauqi was that of Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA), known for his wisdom and courage. After hearing about Aliโs bravery in standing up for what was right, Syauqi was inspired to be more confident in making good choices, even when it wasnโt the easiest path. ๐ก๏ธ

This phase of our journey emphasized the Inspire and Impart pillars, using the lives of the Companions to teach our children essential Islamic values. By sharing these stories, we aimed to provide them with concrete examples of how to live a life that is pleasing to Allah.
As Allah says in the Quran:
"And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhajireen and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conductโAllah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him..." (Surah At-Tawbah, 9:100) ๐
This verse reinforced the importance of following the example set by the Prophetโs Companions, who were the best of generations.
A Peek Into Our Conversations ๐จ๏ธ
Nurin: "Ummi, was Bilal really that brave even when people hurt him?"
Ummi Ziehan: "Yes, Nurin. He trusted in Allah completely, and that gave him the strength to stay firm in his faith."
Syauqi: "I want to be brave like Ali (RA) and always do whatโs right, even if itโs hard."
Daddy Ikram: "MashaAllah, Syauqi! Thatโs a wonderful goal. Remember, Allah is always with you when you stand up for whatโs right."
