Integrate: Bringing Islamic Teachings into Everyday Moments ππ
2 minute read
Bismillah: As we settled into our homeschooling routine, we realized that the most powerful lessons werenβt just in the formal sessions but in the everyday moments we shared as a family. We wanted to make Islamic teachings a natural part of our childrenβs lives, seamlessly integrating them into daily activities. π
Weaving Faith into Daily Life π±
- Morning Rituals: We started each day with Quranic recitation and a short reflection, setting a positive tone for the day. This helped our children understand that every day was a gift from Allah, and starting it with His words was the best way to begin. π
- Learning Through Play: Playtime became an opportunity to teach Islamic values. Whether it was sharing toys with siblings or playing cooperative games, we used these moments to reinforce the importance of kindness, patience, and teamwork, all rooted in the teachings of the Quran. π²
- Everyday Conversations: Simple activities like cooking, cleaning, or even a walk in the park became opportunities to discuss Allahβs blessings. Weβd talk about how the food we eat is a blessing from Allah or how the beauty of nature reflects His creation. These conversations made the lessons real and relevant to their lives.
One memorable moment was when Syauqi helped prepare the table for dinner and remarked, βWe should thank Allah for this food, right, Ummi?β It was a simple yet profound reminder that the lessons were taking root. π½οΈ
Integrating Faith with Iqrasaurus π¦
This phase emphasized the Integrate pillar, where the focus was on blending Islamic teachings with everyday life. By doing so, we aimed to make faith a constant and natural part of our childrenβs experiences, reinforcing the idea that Islam is not just something we learn, but something we live.
As Allah says in the Quran:
"So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me and do not deny Me." (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:152) π
This verse encouraged us to constantly bring our focus back to Allah in all aspects of life, teaching our children to do the same.
A Peek Into Our Conversations π¨οΈ
Nurin: "Ummi, why do we say Bismillah before we eat?"
Ummi Ziehan: "Because it reminds us that everything we have comes from Allah, and we should be thankful."
Syauqi: "So, when we say Bismillah, weβre thanking Allah for our food?"
Daddy Ikram: "Exactly, and itβs a way to ask Allah to bless what we eat and make it good for us."
Hilwaa: (Claps her hands) "Bismillah!" π
End Note: Integrating faith into daily life makes Islamic teachings more meaningful and relevant for children. Join us next time as we discuss our first experience with international schooling and the lessons learned along the way. ππ
