Inspire: Sparking Curiosity in a Two-Year-Old with Quranic Stories πβ¨
1 minute read
Bismillah: As our journey continued, we realized that the key to teaching Syauqi about the Quran was sparking his natural curiosity. We wanted him to see the Quran not just as a book, but as a source of endless wonder and inspiration. π
Making the Quran Engaging π
- Curiosity as a Catalyst: We focused on creating an environment where Syauqiβs questions were encouraged. Every βWhy?β and βHow?β was an opportunity to connect him to the Quranβs teachings.
- Interactive Storytelling: Instead of simply reading stories to him, we made them interactive. Weβd pause and ask, βWhat do you think happens next?β or βHow would you feel if you were in this story?β This made him an active participant in the storytelling process.
- Everyday Connections: We also began to link Quranic lessons to everyday experiences. For example, after reading about Allahβs creation of the animals, weβd go to the park and observe the birds and insects, marveling at Allahβs creations. π¦π
One of Syauqiβs favorite stories was about the Prophet Sulaiman (AS) and the ants. After hearing the story, he would eagerly point out ants during our walks, recalling how the ants spoke to Prophet Sulaiman. π
Inspiring a Love for Learning π¦
This phase emphasized the Inspire pillar, where our focus was on making learning exciting and relevant. By linking Quranic stories to Syauqiβs daily life, we were able to nurture his curiosity and love for the Quran.
As Allah says in the Quran:
"And say, βMy Lord, increase me in knowledge.β" (Surah Taha, 20:114) π
This verse reminded us of the importance of continuously seeking knowledge and fostering a love for learning in our children.
A Peek Into Our Conversations π¨οΈ
Syauqi: "Ummi, do ants really talk like in the story?"
Ummi Ziehan: "Maybe not in the way we talk, but they do communicate with each other. Isnβt that amazing?"
Daddy Ikram: "And just like Prophet Sulaiman (AS) understood them, we can learn so much by paying attention to the world around us."
Syauqi: "I want to find more ants, Daddy, and learn what theyβre saying!" π
End Note: Nurturing curiosity is the first step in a lifelong love of learning. Join us next time as we introduce you to Nurin, our new addition to the family, and how she became a part of our Quranic journey! πΈπΆ
