Doodling: Using Art to Internalize Quranic Teachings 🎨🌟

2 minute read

Bismillah: As we continued our Quranic journey, we discovered that doodling was not just a fun activity for our children but a powerful tool for internalizing Quranic teachings. By turning stories and lessons into art, our children were able to engage with the Quran in a creative and meaningful way. 🌼

Why Doodling? 🌱

  • Visual Learning: We realized that visual learning through doodling helped our children retain the stories and values of the Quran better. By drawing scenes from the Quran, they could visualize the events and connect emotionally with the lessons. For example, doodling the story of Prophet Nuh (AS) and the ark made the concept of trust in Allah more tangible for them. 🚒
  • Creativity Meets Faith: Doodling allowed our children to express their understanding of the Quran creatively. Whether it was drawing the animals of the ark or the parting of the Red Sea, each doodle became a reflection of their personal connection to the story. This creative expression deepened their engagement and made the lessons more memorable.
  • A Family Activity: Doodling became a family activity that brought us all together. We would sit down after a Quranic lesson, grab our pencils and crayons, and let our imaginations run wild. This not only reinforced the lessons but also strengthened our family bond through shared creative expression. πŸŽ¨πŸ–οΈ

One of the most cherished moments was when Syauqi and Nurin collaborated on a doodle of the Battle of Badr, drawing the angels that Allah sent to help the Muslims. This activity sparked a deep discussion about faith, bravery, and reliance on Allah. πŸ•Œ

This phase highlighted the Inspire and Integrate pillars, using doodling as a way to internalize Quranic teachings. We found that when our children were able to express their understanding through art, they connected more deeply with the stories and values of the Quran.

As the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

"Allah is beautiful, and He loves beauty." 🌸

This hadith inspired us to see beauty in our children's creative expressions and to encourage them to use their artistic talents to connect with their faith.

A Peek Into Our Conversations πŸ—¨οΈ

Nurin: "Ummi, can I draw the part where the Red Sea parts?"

Ummi Ziehan: "Of course, Nurin! And as you draw, remember how Allah’s power helped Prophet Musa (AS) and the believers."

Syauqi: "I want to draw the angels from the Battle of Badr! They helped the Muslims win, right?"

Daddy Ikram: "Yes, Syauqi! And your drawing will help you remember how Allah is always there to support those who trust in Him."

End Note: Doodling has become a powerful way for our children to internalize Quranic teachings. Join us next time as we explore the benefits of homeschooling all four kids and how we managed to balance education with daily life. πŸ‘πŸ“š
